Baotou Railway Station is an important railway hub in central and western Inner Mongolia, where several major railway lines converge, including the Beijing-Baotou High Speed Railway, the Baotou-Yinchuan High Speed Railway, the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway and the Baotou-Xi'an Railway. The station handles more than 150 passenger train arrivals and departures on a daily basis on average. Since the full completion of the Baotou-Yinchuan High Speed Railway on December 23, passenger departures at Baotou Railway Station have increased by 14.1 percent year on year, with transfer demand within the station rising sharply.
